NREP Recognizes Parent Participation

NREP Recognizes Parent Participation

Parents attending conscious discipline At NREP, a team of educators with experience and expertise in early childhood development and the use of Conscious Discipline (CD) teamed up to facilitate a free 8-week e-learning video series. The educators shared their conscious discipline journey, classroom strategies, and self-regulation techniques, and guided parents through discussions on the core methodology of Conscious Discipline. The sessions gave parents an opportunity to build connections with educators and other parents, as well as learn important skills needed to help children through moments of conflict.

The CD video series focuses on three internal brain states, seven powers of conscious adults and seven skills of discipline. CD is built on controlling and changing ourselves first, connectedness, and looking at conflict and moments of upset as opportunities to teach. Safety, connection and problem-solving are the heart of the program, which was founded by Dr. Becky Bailey (visit consciousdiscipline.com to learn more).

The CD e-learning series ran from September 19 through November 14, with roughly 12 families consistently dedicating each Thursday night to learning about Conscious Discipline and networking with teachers and other members of the NREP extended school family. Childcare was made available for parents, and to make evening meals easier, pizza and drinks were served to help accommodate dinner needs.

This collaborative approach exemplifies the Power of Unity and truly shows that we are all on this journey together. Thanks to all the families who joined us for the e-learning sessions, and became actively involved and willing to learn all that they can to support the success of their children and our students. Happy National Parent Involvement Day!
