NREP Preschoolers Turn Trash Into Treasure

Truck made from recycled materialsThe Head Start and NREP preschool classrooms investigate the three R’s of the environment: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. As part of the curriculum, the teachers orchestrated a family recycling project aimed at teaching children about taking care of the environment.

This project not only yielded amazing creations, but it fostered a partnership of learning together.

We not only learned about reducing, reusing and recycling, but we also learned concepts and skills in literacy, math, science, social studies, and the arts. We used thinking skills to explore how to take a piece of trash and turn it into a functional product.

We love all the creative items our students and families created from repurposed leftover items….check out these amazing creations.
