Coronavirus Update June 25, 2020
The Virginia High School League has announced fall schedules for athletics and activities have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

June 9, 2020
Governor Ralph Northam and Virginia Secretary for Public Instruction James Lane have released Virginia's Return to School Plan. The plan, which stresses social distancing and will result in a different school experience for at least the beginning of the upcoming school year, includes guidance for local school divisions to follow as they reopen this fall.

Stress is often unavoidable during a crisis such as this; we are challenged to keep our stress levels low and our spirit levels high.

Grab-n-Go Meals Update
06/30/2020
The Grab-n-Go Meals program is being offered through July 30 with a few changes to the menu and schedule. Starting on July 7, any school-aged child can receive a free breakfast and lunch on Monday through Thursday between 10:00 a.m. and Noon at James Wood, Millbrook or Sherando high schools. In addition, the meals will be available on Monday through Thursday between 10:00 and 11:30 a.m. at several satellite locations throughout Frederick County.

Middle School Rezoning
06/30/2020
Frederick County Public Schools is seeking 8-10 community members living in the Robert E. Aylor, James Wood and Admiral Richard E. Byrd middle school attendance zones to serve on a committee that will review the findings of a middle school rezoning study and recommend a middle school rezoning plan to be considered by the School Board. The rezoning proposal will include the creation of an attendance zone for the replacement Robert E. Aylor Middle School which will open for the 2021-22 school year. Those interested in serving on the committee should apply no later than July 24.

Common Sense District Common Sense Education 2019-2021
FCPS Certified as Common Sense District

Common Sense Education has recognized Frederick County Public Schools as a Common Sense District for its work in teaching students and their families as well as FCPS staff about digital citizenship. Fewer than 150 school districts in the United States have been recognized as a Common Sense District.

2020-21 Kindergarten Registration
06/22/2020
Parents with children who will be five years of age on or before September 30 are being asked to contact the registrar at the school their child will attend in order to register their child for kindergarten as soon as possible. Early registation will help FCPS plan for the 2020-21 school year.
